Checkmates is a group of social chessplayers who meet in Stellenbosch and sometimes beyond. We play in coffee shops, at home or anywhere else, meeting either as a group or in pairs. It's very informal: there are no membership fees; and you don't "join", you simply come along and play, teach, learn or hang around as a groupie.
